Samuel Hans Adler is an American composer, conductor, author, and professor. During the course of a professional career which ranges over six decades he has served as a faculty member at both the University of Rochester's Eastman School of Music and the Juilliard School. In addition, he is credited with founding and conducting the Seventh Army Symphony Orchestra which participated in the cultural diplomacy initiatives of the United States in Germany and throughout Europe in the aftermath of World War II. Adler's musical catalogue includes over 400 published compositions. He has been honored with several awards including Germany's Order of Merit – Officer's Cross.

Samuel Putnam
Samuel Putnam (1892-1950) fue un traductor estadounidense y un erudito de las lenguas románicas. Se le conoció por su inclinación izquierdista. Su obra más famosa es su traducción al inglés de Don Quijote de 1949. Es la primera versión de esta obra en la que se puede encontrar un inglés contemporáneo; aunque aún se emplea lenguaje arcaico en la traducción, es en menor medida. El lenguaje es formal cuando es utilizado por personajes cultos, pero rara vez pasado de moda, mientras que los personajes más incultos hablan en un inglés coloquial moderno. Putnam trabajó en la traducción durante doce años antes de que ésta fuera publicada. También publicó The Portable Cervantes, el cual incluía una versión abreviada de su traducción de Don Quijote, así como nuevas traducciones de dos de las Novelas Ejemplares de Cervantes.

Samuel Francis Du Pont
Samuel Francis Du Pont was a rear admiral in the United States Navy, and a member of the prominent Du Pont family. In the Mexican–American War, Du Pont captured San Diego, and was made commander of the California naval blockade. Through the 1850s, he promoted engineering studies at the United States Naval Academy, to enable more mobile and aggressive operations. In the American Civil War, he played a major role in making the Union blockade effective, but was controversially blamed for the failed attack on Charleston, South Carolina in April 1863.
