Aleksandr Ivánovich Lébed fue un teniente general y político de Rusia. Quedó tercero en las elecciones presidenciales de Rusia de 1996, con el 14,5% del voto nacional. Más tarde fue secretario del Consejo de Seguridad y en esta posición tuvo un papel fundamental en el final de la Primera Guerra Chechena en 1996. Después de ser sustituido por Borís Yeltsin, ganó las elecciones como gobernador del krai de Krasnoyarsk, Rusia, la segunda región más grande de Rusia en 1998. Sirvió cuatro años en esta última posición, hasta su muerte en un accidente de helicóptero Mil Mi-8.

Aleksey Ivanovich Lebed served as professional officer with the Soviet/Russian Airborne Forces, like his more prominent older brother, the late Alexander Lebed. After quitting military service in 1995 with the rank of colonel, he was elected chairman of the government of Khakassia Administrative Republic. He came to the post in 1997, and was re-elected in 2000. Shortly after he came to power in 1997, the transmitter of the Sayansk television and radio company was cut off. Station chief Veniamin Striga said Lebed was responsible. In 2006 criminal charges were brought against Lebed related to claims of abuse of power. In 2009 Viktor Zimin took Lebed's position as the head of the government of Khakassia.

Anatoly Vyacheslavovich Lebed, was a Hero of the Russian Federation, Guards Lieutenant Colonel in Special Airborne Forces, and an officer of the 45th Guards Spetsnaz Regiment.
