David Hempstead was an American film producer known for None but the Lonely Heart (1944), The Sky's the Limit (1943), directed by Edward H. Griffith, and Joan of Paris (1942), directed by Robert Stevenson. He co-wrote the script of Hell and High Water (1954) alongside Jesse Lasky.

Edward Hempstead was an American lawyer, pioneer, and one of the early settlers in the new Louisiana Purchase in 1805. Born in New London, Connecticut, Hempstead was the delegate in the U.S. House for the Missouri Territory from 1812 to 1814. He served as territorial attorney general in Upper Louisiana and in the Missouri Territorial Legislature.

Stephen P. Hempstead was the second Governor of Iowa. A Democrat, he served from 1850 to 1854.

Harry Newton Hempstead was the owner of the New York Giants of the National League from 1912 through 1919.
