Mao Zedong
Mao Zedong, también denominado Mao Tse-Tung o, simplemente, Mao Tse Tung, fue un político, máximo dirigente del Partido Comunista de China (PCCh) y fundador de la República Popular China. Bajo su liderazgo, el Partido Comunista se hizo con el poder en la China continental en 1949, convirtiéndolo en un régimen autoritario, y así se proclamó la nueva República Popular, tras la victoria en la Revolución china contra las fuerzas de la República de China. La victoria comunista provocó la huida de Chiang Kai-shek y sus seguidores del Kuomintang a Taiwán y convirtió a Mao en el líder máximo de China hasta su muerte en 1976. Se le considera un dictador por haber impuesto un régimen unipartidista y autoritario en su política interna, y una figura clave en la campaña conocida como Gran Salto Adelante, y por las consecuencias sociales y económicas de su política interna.

Máo Zétán was the younger brother of Mao Zedong. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1923. In 1927, he participated in the Nanchang Uprising, retreating with the Communists to the Jinggang Mountains at its completion. At the age of 29, he was captured and executed while fighting Kuomintang forces in Jiangxi, covering the withdrawal of the main Communist army during the Long March.
