This success led to him serving as a head coach in the National Football League (NFL) for four seasons, three with the Philadelphia Eagles and one with the San Francisco 49ers. Kelly's NFL career proved unsuccessful, only making the playoffs in his first season with Philadelphia, which resulted in him being dismissed from both teams. After leaving the NFL, Kelly returned to college football in 2018 to coach UCLA.
