Waleran III fue inicialmente señor de Montjoie, luego conde de Luxemburgo desde 1214. Se convirtió en conde de Arlon y duque de Limburgo a la muerte de su padre en 1221. Era hijo de Enrique III de Limburgo y Sofia de Saarbrücken.

Waleran de Beaumont, Conde de Meulan y I Conde de Worcester, era hijo de Robert de Beaumont, Conde de Leicester y Elizabeth de Vermandois, y hermano de gemelo de Robert de Beaumont, II conde de Leicester. Es mencionado solamente como 'Waleran hijo del conde Robert' en los documentos contemporáneos.

Waleran II of Arlon, supposedly also called Udon of Limburg, was the count of Arlon from AD 1052 and, if he was the same person as Udon, also count of Limburg from 1065 and advocatus of the Abbey of Sint-Truiden. He was the younger son of Waleran I, Count of Arlon, and his wife Adelaide. His elder brother Fulk became Count of Arlon.
