Ulysses S. Grant
Ulysses S. Grant, nacido Hiram Ulysses Grant, fue un militar y político estadounidense que se desempeñó como el 18.º presidente de los Estados Unidos (1869-1877). Antes de su presidencia, entre 1864 y 1865, lideró el Ejército de la Unión como comandante general del Ejército de los Estados Unidos al final de la guerra de Secesión. Al asumir la presidencia, trabajó con los republicanos radicales durante la Reconstrucción de la Unión mientras lidiaba con la corrupción en su administración.

Ulysses Burgh, 2nd Baron Downes
General Ulysses de Burgh, 2nd Baron Downes, was an Irish soldier and Tory politician. A General in the British Army, he served as Surveyor-General of the Ordnance under Lord Liverpool between 1820 and 1827. After succeeding a cousin as second Baron Downes in 1826, he sat in the House of Lords as an Irish Representative Peer from 1833 until his death.

Ulysses S. Grant IV was the son of Ulysses S. Grant Jr. and the grandson of General of the Army and President of the United States Ulysses S. Grant and United States Senator Jerome B. Chaffee of Colorado. He was an American geologist and paleontologist known for his work on the fossil mollusks of the California Pacific Coast. He was born at his father's farm, Merryweather Farm, in Salem Center, Westchester County, New York. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to San Diego, California.
