Samuel [de] Champlain, fue un navegante, cartógrafo, dibujante, soldado, explorador, geógrafo, etnógrafo, diplomático y cronista francés que fundó la Ciudad de Quebec el 3 de julio de 1608 y está considerado el «padre de la Nueva Francia».
