Resat Nuri Güntekin fue un novelista y dramaturgo turco del periodo republicano de dicho país, nacido en Estambul en 1889 y fallecido en Londres el 7 de diciembre de 1956. En su novela El reyezuelo (1922) trata el tema del destino de una joven profesora turca en Anatolia. Su narrativa es de un estilo minucioso, preciso y de tono realista.

Reşat Çiğiltepe was an officer of the Ottoman Army and the Turkish Army. He committed suicide on 27. August 1922 during the Battle of Çiğiltepe, because he promised Atatürk that he would capture Çiğiltepe in 30 minutes. Because his unit couldn't reach that objective, he committed suicide. Çiğiltepe was captured 45 minutes after his death. He is one of the most honored heroes of the Turkish War of Independence.
