Justin Orvel Schmidt is an American entomologist, co-author of Insect Defenses: Adaptive Mechanisms and Strategies of Prey and Predators, author of The Sting of the Wild, and creator of the Schmidt sting pain index. On June 22, 2022, Justin Ross Harris's convictions relating to Cooper's death were overturned by the Georgia Supreme Court, concluding that he had not received a fair trial, and will be given a retrial.
