Leo Egidius Schiffer was a German serial killer, who was known as The Strangler of Aachen. Between 1983 and 1990, he murdered five girls and women between the ages of 15 to 31, abusing three of them sexually. His crimes were known as "hitchhiker killings" or "Disco-murders". Egidius Braun was, from 1992 to 2001, the eighth president of the German Football Association. Subsequently, he was appointed Honorary President. That same year, Braun founded the "DFB Foundation Egidius Braun", which takes care of distressed youth. Furthermore, the "Egidius-Braun Award" is awarded by the WDR. In 1985, he was awarded the Bundesverdienstkreuz.
