Alfred Robert Bader, CBE was a Canadian chemist, businessman, philanthropist, and collector of fine art. He was considered by the Chemical & Engineering News poll of 1998 to be one of the "Top 75 Distinguished Contributors to the Chemical Enterprise" during C&EN's 75-year history.

Alfred John Shout, VC, MC was a New Zealand-born soldier and an Australian recipient of the Victoria Cross (VC), the highest decoration for gallantry "in the face of the enemy" awarded to members of the British and Commonwealth armed forces. Shout was posthumously awarded the VC for his actions at Lone Pine in August 1915, during the Gallipoli Campaign of the First World War. After Ottoman forces had counterattacked and seized a large stretch of the Australians' front line, Shout gathered a small party of men and charged down one trench throwing bombs. He killed eight Turkish soldiers, and managed to clear others to retake the trench. In a similar action later that day, and supported by another officer, he recaptured further ground amid hard fighting. In the final push forward, Shout simultaneously lit three bombs to lob at the enemy. He successfully threw two, but the third burst just as it was leaving his hand. Shout was grievously wounded, and died two days later.

Alfred Baring Garrod fue un médico británico que realizó diversas aportaciones al estudió de las enfermedades reumáticas. Descubrió que los pacientes afectados por la gota tenían elevado el nivel de ácido úrico en sangre, e ideó un test de uso práctico para comprobar los niveles de ácido úrico en la sangre de los enfermos, lo que supuso un avance muy importante para facilitar un exacto diagnóstico, diferenciando claramente el trastorno de otros tipos de artritis, como la artritis reumatoide, siendo el primero en utilizar este término. En 1858 fue nombrado miembro de la Real Sociedad de Londres para el Avance de la Ciencia Natural y en 1860 presidente de la Sociedad Médica de Londres. Desde 1863 fue profesor de patología médica y terapéutica en el King's College Hospital de Londres. Tuvo varios hijos, entre ellos Archibald Garrod, médico que realizó importantes aportaciones a la ciencia en el campo de los errores congénitos del metabolismo y Alfred Henry Garrod, eminente zoólogo.

Alfred Marie-Jeanne es un político francés de Martinica. Es líder del Movimiento Independentista Martinicano (MIM) desde 1978. Se desempeñó como alcalde de la comuna de Rivière-Pilote desde el 1971 al 2000 y se desempeñó como Presidente del Consejo Regional de Martinica desde el 20 de marzo de 1998 hasta el 22 de marzo de 2010. Alfred Marie-Jeanne también es miembro de la Asamblea Nacional de Francia.
