He is the Senior Vice President, Hockey Operations with the Montreal Canadiens. He is also a local businessman in Montreal, and is nicknamed "the Senator." In 2017 Savard was named one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players in history.

David Savard is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman currently playing for the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the fourth round, 94th overall, of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Savard won the Stanley Cup with the Lightning in 2021.
