William Marshal, II conde de Pembroke
William Marshal, II conde de Pembroke fue un noble medieval inglés y uno de los garantes de la Carta Magna. Combatió en la Primera Guerra de los Barones y estuvo presente en la Batalla de Lincoln (1217) junto a su padre Guillermo el Mariscal, que dirigió a las tropas inglesas en esa batalla. Encargó la primera biografía de un caballero medieval, L'Histoire de Guillaume le Mareschal, en honor a su padre.

His name is the Franco-Germanic Hansel or Anseau, and is usually 'Ansel' in documents, though the rarity of the name in England often led it to be mistaken for the Lombardic Anselm. He was named after his father's youngest brother, a household knight active in the 1170s.

William Herbert, 3rd Earl of Pembroke
William Herbert, 3rd Earl of Pembroke, of Wilton House in Wiltshire, was an English nobleman, politician, and courtier. He served as Chancellor of the University of Oxford and together with King James I he founded Pembroke College, Oxford. In 1608 he was appointed Warden of the Forest of Dean and Constable of St Briavels Castle in Gloucestershire, and in 1609 Governor of Portsmouth, all of which offices he retained until his death. He served as Lord Chamberlain from 1615 to 1625. In 1623 the First Folio of Shakespeare's plays was dedicated to him and his brother and successor Philip Herbert, 1st Earl of Montgomery.
