Catharina Pietersdr. Hooft was a woman of the Dutch Golden Age. She became famous at a very early age, when she was painted by Frans Hals. At the age of sixteen she married Cornelis de Graeff, nineteen years her senior and the most powerful regent and mayor of Amsterdam. Thus she became first lady of Soestdijk, one of the family's country houses. Catharina Hooft was also a Lady of the High and free Fief of Purmerland and Ilpendam.

Gerardus 't Hooft es un físico neerlandés cuyo trabajo en física teórica en la Universidad de Utrecht fue reconocido con el Premio Nobel de Física del año 1999. Sus principales méritos consistieron en elucidar la estructura cuántica de la interacción electrodébil en la física de partículas.

Willem Adolph Visser 't Hooft was a Dutch theologian who became the first secretary general of the World Council of Churches in 1948 and held this position until his retirement in 1966.
