Matthieu Hartley es un teclista inglés que formó parte de la banda The Cure durante la grabación del álbum Seventeen Seconds en 1980. Su estancia en el grupo fue corta debido a que la banda quería seguir grabando en discos posteriores con el mismo estilo de Seventeen seconds, lo cual supuso conflicto con los otros miembros y provocó su salida a mediados de 1980. Posteriormente, Hartley formaría brevemente parte de la formación The Cry junto a Simon Gallup en 1983, formación de corta vida con la que grabó 2 EPs.
