Masoud Barzani es un militar y político kurdo-iraquí que ocupó el cargo de presidente del Kurdistán Iraquí desde 2005 hasta 2017, a la vez que también preside el Partido Demócrata del Kurdistán (KDP) desde 1979 sucediendo a su padre, Mustafa Barzani quien fue un militar de la República de Mahabad y político nacionalista kurdo.

Mustafa Barzani (kurdo: مسته‌فا بارزانی‎ Mistefa Barzanî) también conocido como Mullah Mustafa fue un dirigente nacionalista kurdo, y la figura política más importante en la Kurdistán moderna. En 1946, fue elegido como el dirigente del Partido Democrático de Kurdistán (KDP) para dirigir la revolución kurda contra los regímenes iraquíes. Barzani fue el principal dirigente político y militar la revolución kurda hasta su muerte en marzo de 1979. Dirigió campañas de lucha armada contra los gobiernos de Irak e Irán.

Nechirvan Idris Barzani es un político kurdo y primer ministro del Kurdistán Iraquí desde marzo de 2012 a mayo de 2019. También ocupó dicho cargo entre marzo de 2006 y agosto de 2009. Es el segundo presidente de la región autónoma del Kurdistán tras Masud Barzani.

Idris Barzani was a Kurdish politician in Iraq. He was the brother of Massoud Barzani, the president of the KRG, and the father of Nechervan Idris Barzani. He was often on diplomatic trips for the KDP. He died on January 31, 1987, of a heart attack, aged 43.

Ahmed Barzani, also known as Khudan, was the head of the Barzani tribe in Kurdistan. Sheikh Ahmed is considered to be the architect of Barzani rule in Iraqi Kurdistan. He was a Kurdish nationalist who brought many different Kurdish tribes under his command and expanded the Barzan region. Along with his younger brother Mustafa Barzani, he fought against the Iraqi government in the 1920s and 1930s.

Masrour Barzani is a Kurdish politician and serving as prime minister of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq since June 2019. He is also the chancellor of the Kurdistan Region Security Council and a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party. He was sworn in as prime minister of the KRG’s ninth cabinet on 10 July 2019, after receiving 87 votes out of 97 legislators in the Kurdistan parliament.
