Tamanoshima Arata
Tamanoshima Arata is a former sumo wrestler from Izumizaki, Fukushima, Japan. A former amateur champion, he made his professional debut in 1998, reaching the top makuuchi division at the end of 2000. He was twice runner-up in a tournament, and earned six special prizes and two gold stars during his career. His highest rank was sekiwake. He wrestled for Kataonami stable. He retired in November 2011 to become an elder of the Japan Sumo Association and is now known as Hanaregoma Oyakata.

Giulio Ulisse Arata was an Italian architect. His work was part of the architecture event in the art competition at the 1936 Summer Olympics.
Ubaldo Arata
Ubaldo Arata was an Italian cinematographer. Arata worked on more than a hundred films between 1918 and his death in 1947. Arata entered cinema in the silent era, and worked prolifically during the 1920s including on one of the final entries into the long-running Maciste series. He was employed on the first Italian sound film The Song of Love (1930). Until the fall of Fascism, he was one of the leading Italian cinematographers working on propaganda films such as Scipione l'africano (1937) and Luciano Serra, Pilot (1938) as well as more straightforward entertainment films.

David Arata is an American screenwriter and producer. He received national acclaim for his adaptive screenplay Children of Men in 2007, garnering an Academy Award nomination and multiple other industry awards. Arata's other screenwriting credits include Spy Game, Brokedown Palace, and most recently, The Angel.
