John Major
John Major was an English cricketer active from 1888 to 1889 who played for Sussex. He was born in Seaford and died in Wakefield. He appeared in twelve first-class matches as a righthanded batsman who bowled right arm medium pace. He scored 363 runs with a highest score of 106 and took three wickets with a best performance of two for 10.
William Archibald Spooner
William Archibald Spooner was a British clergyman and long-serving Oxford don. He was most notable for his absent-mindedness, and for supposedly mixing up the syllables in a spoken phrase, with unintentionally comic effect. Such phrases became known as spoonerisms, and are often used humorously. Many spoonerisms have been invented and attributed to Spooner.

Her debut was at the Mariinsky Theatre in 1875 in Le Dahlia bleu and her dancing career, mainly in the character dance repertoire, lasted until 1907, although she performed on rare occasions through 1911.
